Sikhism is a monotheistic religion that originated in the Punjab region of the Indian Subcontinent around the end of the 15th century. It is one of the youngest religions in the world. Pakistan is a home of many Sikh shrines. The pilgrimage trip has been designed for Sikh fraternity so they can pay homage to these holy shrines. The tour will start from Islamabad, the political and administrative city of Pakistan. Our first destination will be Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassanabdal. The shrine is considered to be important as the handprint of the founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak, is believed to be imprinted on a boulder at the Gurdwara. In Peshawar, we will visit Gurdwara Bhai Joga Singh and other historical places. On the way to Lahore, we will visit Gurdwara Sacha Sauda, Gurdwara Chaki Sahib & Gurdwara Rori Sahib near Gujranwala. It is the sacred shrine which marks the site where, according to tradition, Guru Nanak after the destruction of the town had stayed with Bhai Lalo. The Guru had to sit and lie here on a hard bed of pebbles. From Lahore we will make day excursions for the Yatra (pilgrimage). The next visit will be to the Gurdwara Dera Sahib, Samadhi of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh. The much awaited visit to Janam Asthan or Nankana Sahib followed by Gurdwara Kartarpur, one of the holiest sites in Sikhism. Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, It is built on the historic site where the founder of Sikhism settled and assembled the Sikh community. The tour will end in Lahore after a visit to Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj, Gurdwara Taru Singh and some other important historic sites.
Baisakhi is one of the most important festivals of Sikhs and is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and joviality in the state of Punjab and all throughout the world where there is a significant Sikh population. For the large farming community of Punjab, Baisakhi (Vaisakhi) Festival marks the time for harvest of Rabi crops and they celebrate the day by performing joyful bhangra and gidda dance. For the Sikh community, Baisakhi Festival has tremendous religious significance as it was on a Baisakhi Day in 1699, that Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru laid the foundation of Panth Khalsa-the Order of the Pure Ones. On the festival day, Gurdwaras are decorated and hold kirtans, Sikhs visit and bathe in lakes or rivers before visiting local Gurdwaras, community fairs and Nagar Kirtan processions are held, and people gather to socialize and share festive foods.
