Navigating the New 2026 Pakistan Visa Policy: A Guide for Travelers

Planning your 2026 adventure? Here is everything you need to know about the latest visa updates, fees, and the return of the Standard E-Visa system.

Pakistan’s mountain peaks and vibrant culture are more accessible than ever, but if you’re planning a trip this year, you might have noticed some changes on the official portals. As of January 1, 2026, the “Visa Prior to Arrival” (VPA) program—which offered free, fast-track visas to 126 nationalities—has been suspended.

Don’t worry! This doesn’t mean the doors are closed. It simply means we are returning to the Standard E-Visa system. To ensure your journey starts smoothly, we’ve compiled the most current information for our 2026 guests.

What has changed?

The “free and instant” VPA system has been replaced by the standard paid E-Visa. Travelers from most countries (including the UK, US, and EU) must now apply through the Pakistan Online Visa System (POVS).

Quick Facts: The 2026 Visa Checklist

  • Where to apply: visa.nadra.gov.pk
  • Processing Time: Expect 7 to 10 business days. We recommend applying at least 3 weeks before your departure.
  • Stay Duration: Standard tourist visas are typically granted for 30 to 90 days.

Current Visa Fees (Estimates)

Fees now vary by nationality. Here are the general rates for a single-entry tourist visa:

  • USA, UK, Canada: ~$60 USD
  • European Union (Schengen countries): ~$35 USD
  • China & Gulf Countries: Usually remain fee-exempt or have specialized arrival categories.

Documents You Will Need

The application has become slightly more detailed compared to last year. Make sure you have these digital copies ready:

  1. Passport: Valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel date.
  2. Photograph: Recent passport-sized photo with a white background.
  3. Proof of Accommodation/Invitation: This is where Adventure Tours Pakistan comes in. When you book a trek or tour with us, we provide the necessary Letter of Invitation (LOI) and hotel itineraries required for a successful application.

Pro-Tips for a Smooth Application

  • Check your browser: The NADRA portal works best on Google Chrome.
  • Scan clearly: Ensure your passport scan is high-resolution; blurry images are the #1 cause of “In-Review” delays.
  • Save your ID: Keep your application ID safe so you can track your status.
